Soap blocks are large bars of soap that have not been cut into slices yet.
A soap block weighs about 900 grams and can be cut into 8 bars (or more), and that brings the cost of each bar to RM18, which is RM7 cheaper than the original price!
Soap Block is the most economical option for people who need to buy for the whole family.
Soap blocks are sold naked (no packaging), and you are required to cut and dry the soap yourself.
Please cut the soap block as soon as you receive it.
Soap cutting is not difficult at all, the block is soft and can be easily cut into any size without getting crushed into pieces.
Use any ordinary knife: kitchen knife, fruit knife, as long as it is long enough.
Once cut, place them loosely in a cool, dry and well ventilated space.
Let the moisture in the soap dries up and the soap will get hardened in 2-3 months, and will be ready to use.
Watch this video to learn how to place your soap appropriately after cutting.
Ideal places to dry soap are:
bedroom, living room, office or refrigerator.
Stay away from the bathroom and faucets.
Eventhough the soap is not in a hardened state, it is actually cured (saponified).
You can use it right away if you choose so, but the texture is still soft and it won't last long in the shower.
Things to avoid when drying soap
It is not ideal to sun-dry the soap. Soap will most probably become sticky and oily to the touch, and will lose the fresh smell of herbs very quickly.
Never keep un-dried soap in airtight containers, or wrap in plastic bag. When moisture is unable to escape, mold will grow on the soap.
In the case of 'soap-sweating' during rainy season (soap draws moisture from the air and form droplets on the surface of soap), simply wipe with a piece of cloth.
If you discover spots of mold on your soap, just scoop out the moldy part, the rest of the soap is safe to use.
Soap can be kept for at least a year or more without going bad or get spoiled.
The only downside would be the effectiveness of active ingredient of herbs in the soap will decrease over time.
